Important: When capturing a chart, please include the whole chart so we can see the symbol and the x and y axes, and hopefully the chart's date/time. This will allow us to try to recreate the same issue on our own charts to provide further assistance. If you send us just the tops of a few bars, then it's hard for us to know what symbol or time those chart bars represent.
Creating a Screen Capture on a PC
If you're taking notes, or get an error message, or there's something unusual on your charts that you want to share with Base Camp Trading support, it can be helpful to make a screen capture to save or share. There are several ways to capture a screen, or portion of your screens, as an image to share.
Many users have a utility, such as Windows' free "Snip and Sketch" as part of the Windows Operating System. That can be used to capture and edit a region of your screen, such as an error dialog. In Windows 11, the default keystroke to do a screen capture is WindowsLogoKey+Shift+S. Using that, the screen will darken a bit to allow you to select a region of any of your monitors, and place it in the paste buffer. By default, it will create a notification that shows the image you captured, which you can click on to edit using Snip and Sketch if you'd like. Or just paste it directly into your mail message, or wherever you'd like. In other versions of the operating system, you may need to launch Snip and Sketch and take a screen capture via the app.
For more information on Snip and Sketch, please refer to the links near the bottom of this article.
Other users can use Microsoft One Note to do a screen capture.
The PrtScrn button on your keyboard can be used to capture a window or all of your screens at once. If you hit the PrtScrn button by itself, it will capture an image of ALL of your screens into your paste buffer. You can then paste that captured image into your favorite image editor and then copy or crop just the section that you want to share. Alternatively, you can hold down the ALT button on your keyboard and then hit the PrtScrn button - that will capture just the currently-active window rather than all of your screens. Like the regular PrtScrn button, it copies the capture into your paste buffer which can be pasted in an email, or into an editor if you want to crop just the part you wish to share.
Some users just use their phone to take a photo of the screen. If you're using your phone to capture what's on your screen, make sure it's clear. If you can't see the error in the image well, neither can we!

Sharing your screen capture
If you're like to share your screen capture, you can use a tool like Jing. Though we've learned that Jing is being retired, and replaced with TechSmith Capture and Screencast. You can find more information about how to get and use this tool at the following link:
