NinjaTrader requires that we use the machine ID as the unique identifier to verify our customers are authorized to run our indicators. Unfortunately, the machine ID changes when the computer's hardware changes - including when the BIOS changes. This is something that NinjaTrader controls, so perhaps someday they'll find a different way to identify a user, but for now, that's what we have to use. When your machine ID changes, your registration to run your indicators may need to change.
The machine ID should only rarely change, unless you have a new computer that gets lots of BIOS updates, or if you make hardware changes such as adding or removing memory or drives. So one way to minimize this from occurring is to be selective about which BIOS updates you implement. In general, many computer manufacturers suggest changing your BIOS only if your computer is exhibiting the problem the update addresses, because there's a chance that a problem encountered during a BIOS update may create boot issues with the computer. Like many people, we usually like to update our computers' BIOS when an update comes along, so we understand if you want to update it when it's available.
Mac users who use a PC emulator have frequent bios updates whenever the emulator software changes, changing their machine id. They could also be selective in which updates to implement, though again, it's often a good idea to keep up to date with any updates. Just be prepared that an update may update your BIOS and cause a machine ID change.
Hopefully, you'll find that there will be less need for BIOS updates as time goes by on any computer you buy, and the machine id changes will be minimized.
The fastest way to get the issue resolved is to try updating ONE of your indicators with your new machine ID by registering the new ID on our indicators download page. If that one change works, then continue with your other indicators. Otherwise, contact us (support@basecamptrading.com) with your copy-and-pasted new machine ID (it must be entered correctly) so we can update it for you.
