In September of 2020, Sierra updated their platform’s handling of time, along with other changes, which required that all indicators be updated in order to work. If a user stayed on the older version, typically 2150 or earlier, the indicators they already had continued to work. But if they updated to the latest version, such as 2163, indicators may disappear from the charts. Again, this is because the indicators need to be updated (specifically, recompiled) to run on the newer version. If you tried to add the older version of the indicator to a chart, you may see a warning that it needed to be recompiled.
The Sierra Base Camp Trading indicators posted to the BCT Indicator Download page have now been recompiled to run on version 2163 or higher. To use these updated indicators, you'll need to be running Sierra version 2163 or higher (keep reading for how to do this). Close Sierra so that all of its open files are closed. Then download the updated indicator extractors from the BCT Indicator download page, making sure to use your full Sierra username when clicking the authenticate button. You can find your full username in Sierra by clicking Help/About in Sierra. Note that you must be precise in entering your username, as it is case-sensitive, and you must include the Transact_User_ prefix if that’s what stated in Help/About. That prefix is typically required for Infinity users.
Note that you may have indicators obtained from other non-BCT sources that may not work once you update to the current version, as they will also need to provide you with updated versions. Therefore, make sure that you have updated versions of all the indicators you want to use before making the upgrade to the latest version.
Once you download each of your indicators, with Sierra fully closed, run each of the extractors, and your indicators should once again appear in Sierra. If they do not appear, check to see if they were removed from the chart, and if so, add them again.
Remember that the indicators are compiled to run on Sierra version 2163 or higher, so make sure that you’re running at least that version in order for the newly-downloaded BCT indicators to work. You can identify the version that you’re running in the Help/About window. If you need to update your version of Sierra to the latest version, use the information at this BCT KB link, and specify Current Version rather than specifying a Specific Version.
