Like many traders, we’re eager to start using the latest version of TradeStation when it’s ready, but we still prefer to use 9.5 at the current time. When the room leaders start to use Version 10 in the rooms, it will show that we’ve decided to move up to that version. Our suggestion will be to use the version that’s being used in our Live Trading Rooms. Our indicators are still written primarily for the 9.5 version.
Note that to get the 9.5 version, you must download the “legacy” version from the TradeStation download page, which is below the option to download TradeStation 10.
Also, if you decide to upgrade from 9.5 to 10, make sure to keep a copy of your workspaces and desktops. Once they’re upgraded to 10, it’s not simple to go back to 9.5 unless you have a backup. If you don’t have a backup version and you want to go back to 9.5, you may have to recreate them manually.
You can install both TradeStation 9.5 and TradeStation 10 on the same machine, though you can’t run both at the same time. When you switch between versions, TradeStation will notify you that it’s making system adjustments that tie everything to the version that you’re currently running. It takes less than a minute to do this. This configuration change only happens when you change versions, so it won’t happen when you run the same version repeatedly.
