TradeStation uses your Customer Number to authenticate users who purchased studies. When you download a BCT study, you want to make sure you’re giving the correct Customer Number. Remember that Customer Numbers only have numbers, no letters or other characters. Also, your Customer Number is NOT the same as one of your Account Numbers. Account Numbers are generally longer than Customer Numbers. You have one customer number for your login, no matter how many accounts you have under that login. And you can use the same customer number on different computers (though not at the same time).
If you haven't registered your Customer Number, you'll likely get a "you are not authorized to use this indicator" error from TradeStation, and the indicator will turn itself off. You might see the indicator for a moment or two before this occurs.
Many people struggle to enter the correct Customer Number. The easiest way to get it is to use the Help/About menu. It’s clearly identifiable with the words, “Customer Number:” right before it. It’s shown in a red outline in the image, below. To help assure you’re entering the number correctly, you can copy it from the dialog box. Just double-click on the number to select it, then use CTRL+C or Right-Click/Copy to put the number in your paste buffer. Then you can paste it into the authorization box on the BCT Indicator Download page by using CTRL+V or Right-Click/Paste.
One other thing to point is that there's a limit to how many different customer numbers you can enter per Base Camp Trading account. If you have more than a couple of computers, you'll need to contact BCT Support at firstname.lastname@example.org to request assistance in this case. Please provide your Customer Number and which indicators aren't working for you, and we'll help get it registered for you.
