If your indicator appears just for a moment and then disappears in TradeStation, many times, the cause is because of not correctly registering your Customer Number. Bringing up the TradeStation Events Log (via the View menu) will show a Runtime Error in this situation. Clicking on the error message and then clicking on the Details button (if not already enabled) will give you more details about the cause of the error.
TradeStation uses your Customer Number to authenticate users with purchased studies. When you download a BCT study, you want to make sure you’re giving the correct Customer Number. Remember that your Customer Number only has numbers, no letters or other characters.
Many people struggle to enter the correct Customer Number, often using account numbers or other numbers. Only your unique Customer Number will work, and is the same between computers and even versions of TradeStation.
The easiest way to get it is to use the Help/About menu. It’s clearly identifiable with the words, “Customer Number:” right before it. It’s shown in a red outline in the image, below. To help assure you’re entering the number correctly, you can copy it from the About TradeStation dialog box. Just double-click on the number to select it, then use CTRL+C or Right-Click/Copy to put the number in your paste buffer. Then you can paste it into the authorization box on the BCT Indicator Download page by using CTRL+V or Right-Click/Paste.
If you can't find the Help/About menu in TradeStation 10, it may be that your main menu has been disabled. If you look at the top left area of the tradestation window, you should see the main menu as follows, which shows the Help menu. That's the menu you'll use to get to Help/About so you can get your customer number
If that menu is not present then you can enable it by right-clicking on the background of a workspace. You must be on the background of the workspace, not on a chart - so if you have a chart showing, reduce its size so you can click on the empty part of the workspace behind it. When you right-click on the empty workspace background, the following popup menu will appear. Choose Platform Toolbars, and in the flyout that appears, make sure there's a checkmark in front of Menu Bar, as shown. Left-click to the left of the Menu Bar choice to make the checkbox appear. You should then see the File/Edit/View/Window/Help menu appear at the top of the TradeStation application.
